Four indictments in the wiretapping scandal

EVENT: Prosecution has filed indictment against four persons suspected of wiretapping 100 businessmen and politicians: charges were brought against Marek Falenta, his associate Krzysztof R. as well as two waiters, Łukasz N. and Konrad L. - informed Renata Mazur, press officer of the district prosecutor's office for Warsaw-Praga. According to the prosecution, the only reason for wiretapping was „business-financial". The investigators exclude that foreign individuals participated in the scandal.

Kopacz promises major changes to tax system

Event: During the PO programme convention Ewa Kopacz presented the party’s election programme. Its most important elements are:
• elimination of the duty to pay separate contributions for ZUS and NFZ,
• introduction of a uniform 10 per cent rate income tax,
• establishment of a uniform employment contract instead of civil law contracts,
• introduction of a 12 PLN minimal hourly rate,
• elimination of the duty for employers to finance trade union tenures,
• introduction of a refund bonus as part of healthcare system,
• maintaining the separation and friendly relations between the Church and the state.

Referendum non-binding

Event: The turnout in the referendum on SMDs, party financing and deciding doubts in favour of taxpayers was only 7,8 per cent which means that it is non-binding. More on the effect of the referendum on parliamentary campaign in our analysis.
